Rectangular vs. Dome Mosquito Nets: Which Fits Your Bed Better?

2026-08-27

Rectangular Mosquito Nets provide a box-shaped enclosure with broad headroom across most of the mattress. Dome Mosquito Nets hang from a central support and spread outward in a circular or conical form. A rectangular net usually fits double beds and users who want maximum interior space, while a dome net suits rooms needing simpler suspension and a softer decorative appearance.

Bed dimensions, ceiling height, sleeping position, access direction, and installation points should guide the decision.

Rectangular Nets Provide More Usable Space

A rectangular mosquito net normally uses four corner points attached to the ceiling or bed frame. When the top panel is installed level, the walls fall almost vertically around the mattress.

This layout keeps the mesh farther from the sleeper and provides space for turning, sitting, or sharing the bed. Multiple entrances can also improve access from either side.

Rectangular nets are commonly chosen for:

  • Double and queen-size beds

  • Permanent bedrooms

  • Hotels and guest rooms

  • Dormitories

  • Shared sleeping spaces

  • Beds used from both sides

The installation requires accurate hook placement. Unequal cords can pull the mesh diagonally and create gaps near the mattress.

Dome Nets Simplify Suspension

A dome mosquito net generally needs one central ceiling point. A top ring spreads the mesh before it falls around the bed.

This structure reduces installation points and can create a decorative canopy effect. It works well for single beds, cribs, children’s rooms, and bedrooms where four ceiling hooks would be inconvenient.

Dome nets have sloping walls. If the canopy is too small or suspended too low, the mesh may contact the sleeper. The central hook should be positioned according to the bed and entrance rather than simply placed in the middle of the room.

Measure the Bed Before Selecting a Shape

Record:

  • Mattress width and length

  • Mattress height

  • Bed-frame dimensions

  • Ceiling height

  • Distance between bed and walls

  • Available hook positions

  • Number of sides used for access

  • Required tuck depth

A net that exactly matches the mattress dimensions may not provide enough allowance for movement or secure tucking. Oversizing also has limits because excess fabric can gather on the floor or create folds where insects enter.

Entry Design Is Part of Fit

A rectangular net may have one, two, or three zippered or overlapping entrances. The opening should align with the side from which the user enters the bed.

Dome nets commonly use one overlap opening. Correct overlap length is important because a short or twisted entrance can remain partly open.

For children’s beds and cribs, cords, loose fabric, openings, and attachment hardware require careful product selection and adult supervision. Installation instructions and local safety requirements should be followed.

Custom Production for Different Beds

As a rectangular and dome mosquito net OEM/ODM manufacturer, we can develop specifications according to bed size, room style, target market, and packing requirements.

Our factory produces mesh fabric and finished mosquito nets, including hanging, pop-up, travel, baby, outdoor, window, and door-screen products. Custom development can cover dimensions, polyester mesh, color, hanging loops, top rings, entrance design, zipper position, edge binding, labels, and packaging.

A pre-production sample allows buyers to check usable interior space, suspension balance, opening access, seam position, and appearance over an actual bed. Flat drawings alone may not show how the mesh drapes after installation.

Which Fits Better?

A rectangular mosquito net is usually the better choice for a large bed, two sleepers, multi-side access, and maximum headroom. A dome mosquito net is practical when one suspension point, compact styling, or decorative draping matters more.

The right shape should keep the mesh away from exposed skin, close fully around the sleeping area, and remain stable during normal movement. Fit and installation quality matter more than the visual category name.
